Tapio Wirkkala became a super star in the design world due to his huge success in the Milan Triennale's in the 1950s. Rarely does a designer command such an expansive talent and career as Wirkkala did. Inspired by nature and armed with exceptional understanding of geomety and ratios, his designs literally shaped much of our daily lives.

He tackled and mastered all workable materials like marble and stone as a sculptor to wood, fabric, glass, ceramics, metals and plastic. He did it all and can deservingly be named the da Vinci of Finnish design.
