This particular piece was collected in Connecticut, believed to be representing early colonial home of Watertown (Wethersfield) CT. Possibly this Diorama was made for an historic house museum or display. The attention to detail and period are remarkable true representation of construction, items, colors, and attire. Extremely well detailed exhibiting master craftsman's skills. The box interior is constructed with 3d angled interior walls, floor, and ceiling. Each item is handmade and painted. The floor and walls are mixture sawdust with wooden pieces, doors, windows are wooden pieces, fireside bench of wood, timber beamed ceiling, carved wooden Blunderbuss rifle with hammer over the mantel, a metal crane that swings out of the fireplace, large kettle, shovel, fire bellow, plates, logs all carved or cut wood. The wonderful women figurine appears to be of modeling clay and wood. Each item hand painted with great attention to color all having patina. This Diorama Box hangs easily on a wall with only 1 finish nail or can sit on a shelf.
