Returning Home

Description
This charming little painting depicts a traveler returning to a homestead in winter. Snow has fallen and covers the valley and trees. The home has a fire burning and is located next to a barn and a stable. Mountains rise above the valley's frozen river. The scene could be in the northern Rocky Mountains or in a French or Swiss Alpine location. The detail is superb, and the overall feeling is nostalgic and restful as it has a mellow patina of age. It is unsigned and undated. The frame is an ogee-molded, figured mahogany veneer with beading around the edges and appears to be original to the painting. The overall measurements are shown above, while the actual size of the painting is 11"W x 8"H.
This sweet and evocative painting would be perfect in a foyer, in a staircase, or in a guest bedroom. -
