Slumbering Man with Country Intruders
American School.
Unsigned, last quarter 19th c.
Oil on canvas.
24 ½” x 36 ½” with frame.
Over-all in great condition, in a contemporary frame.
PROVENANCE: Found in New Hampshire; Private Collection.
This unique and charming genre scene depicts a slumbering man seated at his breakfast table having dropped his newspaper while the intruding chickens come in from the yard looking for food on the floor.
