Description
Who said painting isn't a team sport? Two artists of different styles collaborate to achieve a seamlessly unified picture. Arthur M. Fitzpatrick's photorealism of the car joins Van Kaufman's post-post impressionist background with figures to create a quintessentially American auto-advertising aesthetic marked by precise detail, evocative design, and sumptuous color. The picture is visual poetry that delights the viewer's eye, but is also a historically important style that rivals the modern art styles pushed by major museum curators, as it combines the glossy mechanical depiction of a car with a human narrative of attractive people enjoying the good life. As of today, it is sadly left out of the fine art conversation, but with a frenzied interest in all things popular culture, that could be changing soon. We are looking forward to the Fitzpatrick-Kaufman tag-team artist being front and center in the fine art canon. Initialed lower left. Board 21.88 x 21.5, Frame under plexiglass to 24.38 x 24.38 - Collage component.
Condition of the art is excellent with snappy, saturated color. The frame is an inexpensive metal frame with some scuffs on the plexi and nicks on the metal. Craqueleur in a man's jacket in the background. The work would benefit from an appropriate new high-end frame -
