Description
This Cubist impasto and soft brushwork Still Life oil painting on canvas depicts tropical and domestic fruits arrayed around a glass compote and goblet on a tabletop. It has echoes of the styles of early Picasso and Braque among other twentieth-century artistic pioneers. The colors are bold in the manner of the Fauvists, and the technique is spontaneous and quick in the manner of the Expressionists. There are tiny areas where the thick paint has chipped, but they are hardly noticeable. The painting has lost its original frame due to disrepair, but the label on the old frame stated it was from a frame shop in San Francisco with an address that pre-dated the use of Zip Codes. This colorful painting has vibrant colors and an attractive use of varied perspectives to show off the fruit, the compote, the goblet, and the reflection of light. There are lively foliage patterns and contrasting colors in background. Although this art is unsigned, it's technical skill is terrific, and it pleases the eye. The painting brings bold colors and heightened emotion to any decor. It will pick up colors from your room's walls, rugs, and textiles, and it will add a touch of fun and art history to your home. It is being sold without a frame, so the purchaser can select a frame that fits a personal style and mood.
