Provenance: Private Collection, Washington, Connecticut
Born on a farm in Lewis County, New York, Levi Wells Prentice began his career as a self-taught artist painting landscapes of the Adirondack Mountain region where he grew up as well as Buffalo and Syracuse. Here, he executed an exceptional, tightly painted mountain landscape with lake in the foreground.
