Brutalist Highboard in Dark Oak, Model 'Sonate', by Frans Defour, Belgium 1970s
-
Description
We already have the sideboard of this specific 'Sonate' collection in our possession, and we are happy to announce that we are now adding this highboard to it. Again, of course, we see the special and characteristic geometric pattern in the door panels. What makes this Belgian brutalist cabinet so incredibly attractive is the flame drawing in the wood, which will be fully and beautifully appreciated from a distance. This vertical drawing is covered by round milled circles, but the actual inner shape is rectangular. The trompe-l'oeil that this creates ensures that the cabinet will be a real eye-catcher in your interior. When we open the doors we see a neatly finished interior consisting of solid oak and a white laminated area on the right side with three polyester bottle holders. There are three removable shelves on the left side. The doors each have three smooth hinges and close easily with magnetic strips. A stunning patina gives this highboard some extra cachet and due to the recent restoration, it is also in very good condition.
