Wave-Shaped Bench in Walnut with Two-tone Veneering, Italy 1950s

This bench, most likely crafted in the 1950s or 1960s, exhibit a timeless design that speaks to their era. Originally serving in the public deeds registry office in Bologna, as indicated by the small metal tag stating "uff registroatti pubblici Bologna" affixed to the sidebeam, these benches were designed to accommodate the public while they conducted official business. Their solid construction and thoughtful design make them functional yet aesthetically pleasing pieces of furniture.

Design
The material used is walnut, a wood known for its strength and rich, warm tones. The natural beauty of the walnut is enhanced by the two-tone veneering, a technique that deserves particular attention. The contrasting shades of walnut veneer are arranged in a striped pattern, adding depth and visual interest to the benches. It is fully restored in our workshop while maintaining patina and little signs of aging that contribute to the character and beauty of this lovely piece.
