Description
Large Late 19th Century French Neoclassical Gilt metal mounted vitrine
Height 184cm, width 121cm, depth 46cm
This excellent display cabinet is a large late nineteenth century vitrine, made in France, and features gilt metallic elements cast atop Neoclassical style columns at each corner. Simple in design, it opens out to give a large area for display across three shelves plus the base. The frames of the doors are finished with gilt painting, as are other decorative embellishments, including lines along the length of the pillars, and around the base. Gilt metal column capitals are mounted towards the top. A simple yet clarified display piece, it is grand without flamboyance, large yet understated: it will make a fine interior addition. -
