Model "G-34" Oak Floor Lamp for Bergboms, Sweden 1960s

Bergboms evolved from a manufacturer of household appliances into one of Sweden's most prolific lighting producers during the post-war decades. The company collaborated with a number of prominent Scandinavian and international designers, while creating lighting that reflected the clean lines, honest materials, and careful proportions associated with Scandinavian Modern design.

Model “G-34”, produced during the 1960s, belongs to this important period in the company's history. The lamp is supported by a distinctive tripod oak base, each leg tapering gently from the central stem to create a stable structure with a light visual footprint. The slender oak stem rises uninterrupted before transitioning into brass fittings at the upper section, introducing a subtle contrast in colour and texture. These brass details continue into the socket, drawing attention to the transition between the wooden body and the fabric shade. The conical shade is classic, allowing the vertical composition of the lamp to remain the dominant feature while casting a soft, diffused light. Every component is carefully balanced, from the width of the tripod base to the diameter of the shade, giving the lamp an elegant sense of proportion.

Although visually understated, model “G-34” is distinguished by the precision of its construction and the quality of its materials. The combination of warm oak, polished brass, and a simple textile shade results in a floor lamp that is both functional and sculptural, making it equally suited to contemporary and period interiors.

Condition:
In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The floor lamp has recently been rewired and reconditioned. The shade is a later replacement. Due to the nature and age of the materials, the item may have marks, scratches, and discolouration. This lamp is compatible with an E26 / E27 (standard) fitting. All lighting can be converted for US usage.
