Description
Characterized by clean lines, exotic woods, soft edges and intuitive functionality, the Swedish Modern lighting models of Boréns Borås are eternally timeless and timely.
Like many of the decade’s designs, this table lamp masterfully pairs different materials and textures. The pairing of brass, leather and wood creates an interesting visual effect, where the organic and traditional look of the organic materials meets the modern look of brass. Swedish lighting manufacturers were masters of creating designs with great texture variety as this rare “B8442” table lamp shows. The brass lampshade “crowns” the leather-wrapped base and teak neck beautifully. It is in the so-called ‘coolie’ shape which is very similar to an empire shade, except the top part of the shade extends to a cone. The bottom of the shade is extra wide, inspired by a Coolie hat worn by many Asian farmers, hence the name. This lamp’s wide-brimmed, gently sloping brass shade creates both decorative and functional lighting. It appears as if the elongated wood neck pierces through the shade, which is a clever design element. The beautiful colour and texture of the brass and wood neck wrapped in leather at its lower part is further emphasized when the light is turned on by the switch on the base. The two bulbs provide warm light, which brings a soft ambience, bringing a touch of Scandinavian style to any space.
Adding illumination to a living space with this stylish table lamp will not only improve the ambience, it will also provide useful task lighting for those late nights. Apart from the aesthetics, the quality of this table lamp is also true to its Scandinavian heritage.
