Description
The "Fini-Lamp" was designed by Ib Fabiansen for the Danish manufacturer Fog & Mørup in 1960. The structure features vertical pine stems that support a series of staggered, cylindrical pine veneer rings arranged in a double-layered pattern. This architectural construction allows light to diffuse through the natural wood grain and the fabric lining, creating a warm, tiered illumination. The lamp rests on three integrated tripod feet and represents a notable example of organic Danish modernism.
Ib Fabiansen (b. 1928) is a Danish architect and designer known for his use of natural materials and geometric forms. His collaboration with Fog & Mørup in the early 1960s resulted in several iconic lighting designs, most notably the "Fini" series, which utilized thin wood veneers to manipulate light. Fabiansen’s work is characterized by a structural honesty where the assembly methods of the object serve as its primary aesthetic feature. -
