Description
This stunning Frankart L210 Art Deco nude sculptural table lamp in bronze, crafted in the United States circa 1935, is a quintessential example of the sleek, sensual aesthetic of the Art Deco era. Designed by Arthur von Frankenberg, the lamp embodies the period’s fascination with the human form, avant-garde artistry, and luxurious materials—all harmonized into a functional yet striking object.
The lamp features a cast bronze base, finely sculpted to depict a stylized nude female figure in a strikingly elegant pose. Frankart was renowned for its ability to balance sensuality and abstraction, and this piece exemplifies that mastery. The nude figure is elongated and streamlined, its smooth surfaces consistent with the Modernist influences of the time while remaining firmly rooted in the romanticism of the Art Deco movement. The figure supports a white craqueleur glass shade, adding a textured and luminous element to the lamp.
The glass shade diffuses soft, ambient light, beautifully complementing the curves and lines of the sculptural bronze figure beneath. The craqueleur finish on the shade not only adds visual interest but also reflects the 1930s penchant for artisanal details. The contrast between the deep bronze finish of the base and the textured, milky white glass creates a balanced, dynamic interplay of materials.
With its strong geometric base, flowing organic figure, and warm, atmospheric glow, this Frankart table lamp serves as a perfect embodiment of Art Deco design. It is not only a functional lighting piece but also a decorative statement that captures the refined elegance of pre-war American design. Whether on a desk, side table, or displayed as a standalone sculpture, this lamp adds timeless beauty and sophistication to any space. Newly rewired to American Standards, this lamp accommodates one Edison Base bulb achieving up to 100 watts of light. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
