Glazed Chamotte Stoneware Table Lamp by Fridtjof Sejersen, Denmark 1960s

Fridtjof Sejersen founded Sejer Keramik in Denmark in 1943, where between the 1940s and 70s he developed a distinctive body of work in chamotte stoneware, a type of ceramic known for its durability and textured finish. His lamps are particularly recognised for their tactile surfaces and individually worked glazes, with each example displaying subtle variations created during the firing process.

This table lamp is crafted from glazed chamotte stoneware. The coarse texture of the the material remains visible beneath the glaze, creating a surface that is rich in depth and character. The thick dark blue glaze flows naturally over the recessed details while catching the raised edges, accentuating the geometry of the pattern. At the same time, it introduces a bold, yet elegant colour. The timeless tine integrates beautifully in even the most minimalist environments. The base has a plump, rounded profile that feels grounded and inviting, while the stem is slender and long. The slim tapering silhouette provides an elegant counterpoint to the rounded base, while the simple cylindrical shade allows the sculptural qualities of the ceramic to remain the focal point. Condition:
In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The lamp has recently been rewired and reconditioned. The shade is a later replacement. Due to the nature and age of the materials, the item may have marks, scratches, and discolouration. This lamp is compatible with an E26 / E27 (standard) fitting. All lighting can be converted for US usage.
