Description
A calm and well-balanced design, this hanging lamp shows the clarity typical of early French Art Deco lighting. The composition feels considered, with each element supporting the overall form.
Design
The lamp is built from brass and organised in a series of circular shapes. A wide dish sits at the centre, held in place by small chains connected to the upper stem. Above it, a flat ring adds another layer, giving the piece more depth without making it heavy. The lower section steps inward towards a compact finial, keeping the shape contained and vertical. Riveted details along the edges and connections bring a subtle decorative touch. The brass has developed a natural patina over time, softening the reflections and adding warmth. The light source sits inside the cylindrical top section and uses a standard E27 fitting, casting a gentle downward light that reflects off the surrounding surfaces. Designs like this were often made to combine practical lighting with a clear visual presence.
A straightforward yet thoughtful piece that works well above a dining table, in a hallway, or as a central ceiling light.
Condition
The condition is good, with light wear and visible ageing to the brass. These signs of use sit well with the overall character of the lamp. - More Information
