Description This sophisticated Mid Century Modern table lamp was realized by the acclaimed designed Georges Pelletier in France, circa 1950. It features a conical ceramic body handpainted in a rich espresso hue with chestnut accents throughout and circular cut outs that allow the lights within to gently cast illumination throughout any interior space. Additionally, the piece offers ceramic spherical forms in a subtle bone hue suspended in the center of each cut out, as well as as incised circular impressions formed in a sunburst pattern that emanate from the circular negative spaces, testifying to the fact that no detail was overlooked in its construction. The piece also comes fitted with its original large scaled conical shade replete with an abundance of tufted wool dots that lends the surface a subtle and dynamic organic texture. This piece is not only an iconic and stunning example of Pelletier's practice- sure to delight discerning collectors of first rate French Mid Century design- but a splendidly sophisticated (and cozy) object sure to add both refinement and warmth to any interior space. The lamp accommodates two Edison bulbs in total (one beneath the shade, and one on the interior of the lamp body) offering up to 200 watts of light. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent vintage condition. The lamp comes fitted with the original shade.
