Description
This rare table lamp was designed by Gerben van Hes and made in his own studio 'Twentsch Ros’ in the Netherlands in the 1960s. The base is signed/inscribed with Hes on the underside.
The design is marked by the void, bottle-like form with rounded shoulders and a gently tapering body rising to a narrow neck. The ceramic base is finished in a richly variegated oxblood, cream and brown glaze with organic mottling and a mineral-like texture. The reactive, almost volcanic look is very characteristic of the reduction glazing technique, almost painterly in effect.
The conical lamp shade is a custom design made in a cream/off-white Métaphores fabric. The finely textured textile provides a refined, neutral contrast while offering a soft and even light distribution.
The lamp is in very good condition with a new shade and renewed 220V wiring and a standard E26/E27 bulb fitting. The shade is included in the price, should you not need the shade, please contact us for adjusted item and shipping pricing.
