Description
The 1970’s saw a fascination with the natural world and its autumnal colors, so artist Jacques Duval-Brasseur rise during this period was quite timely. A sculptor at heart, he created pieces that drew their inspiration from the wonderful, organic shapes and colors of nature, albeit rendered in sleek, shiny brass. This pair of wall sconces by the designer is lovely in its natural-feeling asymmetry. Each aspect of the pieces appears handcrafted, the milky brass forming textural petals and leaves, or smoothly curving stems. Spots of organic color pop up through the use of slim pieces of natural agate in mesmerizing colors of warm squash-orange, deep brown, and swirling cream. One of the sconces includes three light fixtures, hidden behind feathery flower heads, while the other has two. Lovers of the Hollywood Regency style will find something truly individual in this set.
