Description
An exceptionally rare and highly sculptural Overscale Flames outdoor fireplace designed by Jean-Marie Massaud for B&B Italia, originally introduced in 2007 as part of B&B Italia’s groundbreaking outdoor collection.
This authentic example was acquired from the Beverly Hills, California B&B Italia showroom floor, offering exceptional provenance for collectors, designers, and architects seeking museum-quality contemporary outdoor design.
The Overscale Flames embodies Massaud’s unmistakable design language—organic, architectural, and emotionally powerful. The central monolithic body, finished in matte black, appears to float effortlessly within a minimalist powder-coated steel frame, creating a dramatic interplay between sculpture and function. Designed as both an architectural fire feature and collectible design object, this piece transforms terraces, pool decks, rooftop lounges, garden pavilions, hospitality projects, and luxury residential landscapes into curated environments.
Executed in painted metal profiles with a rigid polyurethane structural body and anodized aluminum burner nozzles, the Overscale Flames demonstrates the uncompromising craftsmanship associated with B&B Italia’s most ambitious outdoor designs.
Rarely seen on the secondary market, especially with documented showroom provenance, this is an exceptional acquisition for collectors of Italian modern design, outdoor sculpture, architectural furnishings, and limited production design icons.
Ideal for interiors and exteriors influenced by minimalist architecture, contemporary landscape design, organic modern, monolithic interiors, gallery environments, and luxury hospitality settings.
