Description
This documented Mid-Century Modernist torchiere, designed by the renowned Karl Springer in America circa 1980, and hand-blown in Murano Italy by Seguso Vetri d'Arte, is a remarkable example of his bold yet refined aesthetic. The torchiere features a stunning hand-blown Scavo glass shade, known for its unique texture and frosted appearance, which creates a soft, ambient glow when illuminated.
The base, crafted with meticulous attention to detail, complements the Scavo glass shade with its clean lines and minimalist elegance, a hallmark of Springer's modernist designs. This piece reflects Springer's dedication to combining traditional craftsmanship techniques with contemporary design principles.
Ideal for collectors or anyone looking for a sophisticated lighting element, this torchiere is both functional and a statement piece that enhances any interior with its sculptural presence. Newly rewired to American Standards, this piece accommodates one edison base bulb achieving up to 100 watts of light, and is in Excellent Vintage Condition.
