Description
A beautiful and fully renovated pair of Lisa Johansson-Papé Ihanne (Senators) floor lamps in brass, natural leather and acrylic diffusers. The design features a heavy brass foot with a slim leg wrapped in natural brown leather. Topped with an acrylic diffuser holding a brass reflector. The lamps provide up and down light and are perfect for living rooms, bed rooms or studies.
The ‘Ihanne’ lamp became one of the most popular lighting models in Finland, produced in numerous variations of stems, materials, and shades. It was used widely in both public buildings and private homes. Notably, President Urho Kekkonen had the table version in his home office. The light is directed both upward and downward, reflecting the simple yet intelligent design principle at the core of this model.
Lisa Johansson-Pape (1907–1989) was one of Finland’s leading lighting designers. Her approach prioritized function before form, resulting in refined and highly usable fixtures. After designing furniture for Stockmann, she focused on lighting at Orno Oy, where she created many of her most recognized works. She was awarded several medals at the Milan Triennials during the 1950s, confirming her international recognition.
The lamps have been fully renovated. The leather on both stems has been replaced due to wear, the brass elements have been polished, and the interiors have been repainted in the original white tone. -
