Description
This elegant modernist Saracen shield chandelier was realized by the esteemed maker Fortuny during the latter half of the 20th century in Italy. It features a domed concave fabric shade emblazoned with swirling white gold striated detailing decorating its skein. The amorphic streamlined forms in iridescent white gold at the apex of the shade offer circular cutouts, and a dynamic swirling starburst pattern at its nadir. Biconvex bone hued embellishments hang from flaxen yellow gold twine from the circular cut outs around the top of the shade. This golden twine is reiterated in the form of a tassel that hangs from an amber elliptical bead that attaches to an inverse tented silvered finial signed fortuny. The chandelier affixes to the oil rubbed bronze canopy via an abundance of flaxen silk cords. With its clean modernist lines and impeccable quality of construction, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent condition. The chandelier accommodates one edison based bulb offering up to 100 watts of light. The height can be adjusted to suit.
