Description
An elegant study in vertical proportion and material contrast, this Italian mid-century floor lamp from the 1960s embodies the restrained glamour that defined postwar European lighting design. Crafted in polished brass, the column rises with architectural clarity from a weighted circular base, culminating in a softly tapered pleated shade that diffuses light with warmth and refinement.
A distinctive circular glass shelf is seamlessly integrated into the stem — both functional and sculptural. Suspended at mid-height, the clear glass plane introduces levity to the composition while offering a discreet resting surface for a book, a glass, or a small object. The interplay between luminous brass, transparent glass, and textured shade creates a layered visual rhythm that is sophisticated yet understated.
When illuminated, the lamp casts a warm, ambient glow that enhances the depth of the brass and accentuates the pleating of the shade. The silhouette is slender and architectural, making it ideal beside a lounge chair, sofa, or in a curated reading corner.
Professionally polished and in excellent vintage condition, with minor, age-appropriate wear consistent with its period. A refined lighting statement that balances utility with sculptural presence — emblematic of the quiet luxury of mid-century Italian design.
Professionally rewired and ready for use in the United States (120V). -
