Mid Century Modernist Floor Lamp in Metal and Perspex The Netherlands 1960s

  • Description
Mid Century Modernist Floor Lamp in Metal and Perspex, Europe, 1960s.

This is a very unusual and avant garde mid century floor lamp in metal and perspex. It comes directly from the original Belgian owner who bought it new in The Netherlands in the early 1960s - and who used it in his mid century bungalow for almost 60 years. Unfortunately he was not sure about the designer or manufacturer.

However, we are quite sure this has to be a floor lamp from The Netherlands - it clearly shows resemblance with works by Johan Niegeman for Atelier Artiforte (the lighting department of high end shop de Bijenkorf) and modernist works by Wim Ypma for A. Polak.

It is a very clear and modernist design with a cylindrical shape made out of metal and white perspex - with a chromed finial on top. Timeless and very avant garde for its time - this certainly wasn't just any lamp. Great proportions and details, like the brown / red inside of the metal to give the light a pleasant color.

    Very good condition - uses a tl-lamp.
