Description
Mid century 1950 Spanish Sunburst Pendant Light with leaf design surrounding mottled glass diffuser. The intricate metal leaves on this mid-century sunburst fixture are a defining feature of Spanish neoclassical and Hollywood Regency design. The repeating shape mimics stylized acanthus or laurel palm fronds. This piece perfectly captures the intersection of Hollywood Regency glamour and Spanish Neoclassical design. It features a brilliant, radiating crown of stylized foliage that creates a beautiful play of light and shadow across any room. During this period Spansih metal artisans where known for these more specific details. The mottled frosted glass diffuser adds a wonderful softness to the illumination creating a more intriguing elegant asethetic. In very good condition. With its low-profile silhouette, this fixture operates beautifully as a semi-flush mount ceiling light. It serves as a stunning focal point for entryways, dining spaces, bedrooms, or low-ceiling rooms demanding high visual impact.
The fixture features a central, dome-shaped frosted glass shade adorned with a subtle, textured mottle pattern that diffuses light warmly and evenly. Encircling the glass is a magnificent halo of staggered, radiating leaf fronds. While the leaves have the heavy, lustrous look of solid cast brass, they are expertly hand-crafted from wrought iron finished in an exquisite, original gold-leaf gilding. The deep, chiseled veining and serrated edges of each leaf are accentuated by a rich, aged antique patina nestled in the grooves, offering incredible depth and a timeless vintage character. -
