LT8 Floor Lamps by Osvaldo Borsani Tecno

Rare and refined LT8 floor lamps designed by Osvaldo Borsani and introduced in 1953, a landmark model in the evolution of Italian modern lighting. Produced by Tecno, these lamps exemplify Borsani's synthesis of engineering precision and understated elegance.

Each lamp features twin vertical stems in brass, anchored between floor and ceiling, supporting elongated white lacquered metal diffusers that house fluorescent tubes. The vertical elements create a strong architectural rhythm, while the concealed light source produces a soft, indirect glow that washes the surrounding space.

The LT8 reflects the shift toward integrated, architectural lighting solutions in postwar Italy, minimal in form yet highly considered in function.

Osvaldo Borsani (1911–1985) was a central figure in postwar Italian design, known for combining technical innovation with refined modernist aesthetics. Trained at the Politecnico di Milano, he joined his family's firm before co-founding Tecno in 1953, a company that became synonymous with high-quality, forward-thinking furniture and lighting. Borsani's work is characterized by mechanical precision, functionality, and elegant material use, often integrating ingenuity into minimalist forms. Today, his designs are widely collected and regarded as milestones of 20th-century Italian design.
