German 18th century silver Hanukkah lamp by Herfurth

Height 17.5cm, width 23cm, depth 7cm
This exceptional German Hanukkah lamp was produced in the 18th century by the silversmith Rotger Herfurth. The lamp is designed with a silver shaped backplate adorned with a relief candelabrum motif, which is set within a regnal cartouche and flanked by a pair of rampant lions. The tray of oil lights is arranged beneath underneath a cover, and a detachable light is set to the side. The silver is marked for Herfurth.
