Description
Italian designers and manufacturers were true pioneers of mid-century lighting, creating never-before-seen shapes and forms. This unique model was crafted at Stilux Milano, an Italian lighting company that was founded in Milan in 1946. Stilux’s designs were characterised by their clean lines and modernist forms, as well as their use of innovative materials and this table lamp is no exception.
The modernistic look of this lamp is achieved by the simple, yet smart design of the metal and glass silhouette. The model is almost industrial, yet has the edge of Italian design. The contrast between the dark metal and the white glass shade creates a harmonious balance and adds a striking character to the piece, ensuring the lamp’s ability to stand out in any environment. Since the two materials dictate the look, much attention was paid to their quality, and to the craftsmanship that united this combination into the lamp's asymmetrical shape to create a timelessly modern look, while effortlessly showing off Stilux’s creativity. The lamp also encapsulates an interesting interplay of light and shadow, allowing for a gentle glow to be cast. Furthermore, the clean lines align perfectly with the lamp's overall aesthetic, reinforcing the artistic manner of Italian mid-century design.
The marriage of straight and round contours and versatile materials truly shows the manufacturer’s skill. This lamp has many qualities that make it ideal to blend a stroke of modernity to any space, serving both a functional and a purely aesthetic role.
