Description
A pair of the iconic Tapio Wirkkala floor lamp model K10-11 manufactured and stamped by Idman. The pair retains all original parts and is in beautiful condition with repainted metal parts in red.
The design of this lamp offers adjustability in height between 108cm and approximately 160cm. Also the depth is adjustable and can be set at a maximum of 110 cm. Moreover, the direction and position of the shade is adjustable along three axes.
This lamp shows the designers exceptional understanding of geometry and functionality with a minimalistic approach that makes this lamp easy to allocate in the most challenging of interiors.
The lamp has been rewired and metal parts professionally repainted with mid-century red tone for a more vibrant look.
Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985) was a genius designer and sculptor who was recognized as a leading figure in Finnish arts and crafts in the "golden era" of 1950s-1960s after the wars. Sometimes even compared to Da Vinci, his incredible understanding of geometry resulted in some truly amazing pieces which you can't compare to any other designer's work. He used a number of different materials in his designs including glass, wood, plywood, silver and ceramics, and always had a very unique and distinct approach to his designs. Wirkkala has been awarded a great number of Triennale awards, gold medals and special recognitions, and is internationally acclaimed. -
