Description
A striking and unusually large Finnish Mid-Century Modern table lamp by Valinte, manufactured in the 1950s. Elegant in its simplicity yet sculptural in its form, the lamp is defined by a gracefully curved tubular brass stem that loops into a perfect circle before rising to support the light source. The generous proportions are further emphasized by the wide, handcrafted rattan slatted shade, which casts a warm, beautifully diffused light while adding natural texture to the polished brass.
As shown in the comparison photograph beside a standard Valinte table lamp, this example is considerably larger, giving it a commanding presence whether placed on a sideboard, console, or large side table. It is a statement piece in its own right while retaining the restrained elegance that characterizes Scandinavian modernism.
The design effortlessly bridges styles, making it equally at home in Nordic Modern, Organic Modern, Contemporary, or eclectic interiors. The combination of warm brass, natural rattan, and the clean geometric silhouette creates a timeless aesthetic that remains as relevant today as it was over seventy years ago.
The lamp remains in very good original vintage condition. It retains its original brass patina with wear consistent with age and use. The wooden shade has been professionally renewed and the underside of the lamp is stamped by the manufacturer. Fully functional and ready for use, this rare over sized Valinte lamp is an exceptional example of Finnish lighting design from the golden age of Scandinavian modernism. -
