Description
Rare Winkelman & Van der Bijl Floor Lamp in Wrought Iron and Opaline Glass 1920s
This is a very rare and early floor lamp by the renowned Dutch manufacturer Winkelman & Van der Bijl.
Very elegant and unique design, featuring art nouveau shapes and breathtaking hand made floral inspired ironwork. It spreads very cozy and elegant light due to the hand blown shade in opaline glass combined with a large fabric pleated shade which can be taken of. It is a lamp with numerous marvelous details, like the grape vine inspired decorations at the base, the curled feet and the beautifully curved supports of the fabric shade.
Winkelman & Van der Bijl was founded by H.J. Winkelman in 1910 and soon grew out to be one of the best metalworkers and lighting designers in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Numerous important buildings and bridges in Amsterdam are graced by iron details designed and made by Winkelman & Van der Bijl.
The floor lamp comes in a good vintage condition with some wear due to age and use - most noticeable on the fabric shade. Original EU wiring.
