French 19th Century Gold Gilt Mirror

$ 2,500
  • Description
    Dimensions: 43 ¼” H x 20 ¾” W x 2” D

    A dazzling French mirror from circa 1840 with the potential to brighten up any room and across many decorating tastes owing to its subtle patterning. Within the slightly beveled molding the understated design of scrolled foliate and heart motif reveals textural differences for definition, depending on the ambient lighting conditions. Red bole peeking through adds further warmth to the luster of gilt. Shown in vertical orientation, the rectangular frame is symmetrical to hang in either direction. Curious lines of intermittent foxing across the original mirror glass plate confirm the age, drawing the viewer into the reflection. Look closer and one can see the faint shimmer of crystals appear in the glass. Please see the detailed images for more.
