French 19th Century Gold Gilt Overmantel Mirror

Dimensions: 64 ½” H x 41 ½” W x 2 ½” D
An exceptional French gold gilt mantel mirror from the late 19th century with beveled glass enclosed by a gorgeously decorated frame. Across the top is low arch, differing from the rounded corners of the Louis Philippe style, in that it extends beyond the width of the frame creating a slight flange where a delicate pendant molding hangs like a tassel. Tracing the silhouette of the frame is a Neoclassical laurel motif that appeals to many historic design styles, where it will become the finishing touch for any room.
