French 19th Century Louis Philippe Mahogany Armoire
-
Description
Dimensions: 73 ⅝” H x 36 ⅝” W x 17 ⅛” D
This French Louis Philippe period armoire, circa 1840, is modest in scale and long on style, made of carved and veneered mahogany with expressive grain patterns and rich coloration. It takes the familiar silhouette of Louis Philippe case pieces and scales them down to proportions that can fit any room or function, beyond clothing or linens storage. The door retains its original mirror plate–which appears frosted with an even layer of crystals that glitter in sunlight–opening by working lock and key to access the spacious interior of three shelves, 10 ½” deep, adjustable on sawtooth brackets. In the base of the piece is a drawer (using the key like a pull as the lock no longer functions) with a protective lid that slides back and forth. An additional, secret drawer is hiding just above the feet. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax, this dazzling antique armoire is ready for your interior.
