French 19th Century Petite Brass Cushion Mirror

Dimensions: 27 ⅜” H x 17 ⅝” W x 2” D

A fantastic cushion mirror in répoussé brass on wood backing, from the 19th century. This petite mirror features ornate pressed brass decoration for lovely contrast against the flat mirror plates, cascading from a heavily embellished pediment at the crown in high-relief representations of acanthus, rococo shells, and other Neoclassical references with cherub masks gracing the corners. The rectangular mirror at center projects outward from the frame, “cushioned” by the surrounding plates, fogged with a mysterious pattern of foxing. We believe this item to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
