Description
This Mid-Century Modernist mirror exemplifies sophisticated design with its combination of gilt églomisé glass and a reeded brass border, creating a blend of elegance and modern simplicity. Designed by D. Wingard and produced by the esteemed American manufacturer Labarge in 1977, this piece showcases the high standard of craftsmanship and aesthetic sensitivity that defined the company’s mid-century designs.
The delicate gilt églomisé technique, executed on the glass surface, creates a luxurious distressed gold effect reflective of its artisanal origins. The reeded brass border enhances the overall design with clean, linear detailing, balancing the ornate églomisé surface with modernist sensibility. Labarge's hallmark of marrying traditional techniques with contemporary forms is evident in this timeless piece. Featuring a stunning eastern motif with winding pathways, figures, and bridges over rivers with lovely natural details, the motif is timeless and sophisticated while being firmly anhored in the design motifs of Mid-Century Modernism.
Perfect for adding a touch of subtle glamour to any space, this mirror works beautifully in living rooms, entryways, or bedrooms. With its signature by D. Wingard, this mirror is not only a functional object but also a collectible piece of mid-century American design history. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
