Description
Dimensions: 36 ⅜” H x 49” W x 26 ¼” D
A glorious Louis XVI style canapé-settee from 19th century France, with parcel gilt details to enhance the neoclassical motifs of the white painted frame. Distinctive peaks rise at the corners of the seat back scrolling into volutes blooming with carved roses and artichoke finials. The gondola arms gently slope to the front which terminates in a detached column of twisting pattern ringed in gilded acanthus leaves. A tightly upholstered seat and seat back is presently wrapped in a plain muslin, ready for new upholstery of your choice. The seat appears to float, standing on slender, tapering legs with the same twisted carvings as the arm. Here is the perfect little banquette for a small kitchen or nook, and the regal details make a fine addition to bedrooms and living areas. The current upholstery of a plain muslin is tacked as a temporary solution until its next home where a more fitting material can be selected. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition and message us with any questions.
