French 19th Century Set of Ten Os de Mouton Dining Chairs
-
Description
Dimensions: 44 ¼” H x 23 ¼” W x 26” D
A suite of ten dining chairs from 19th century France composed of (8) side chairs and (2) armchairs all upholstered in a needlepoint material inspired by Verdure tapestry. Thick, oak frames have been carved and shaped to the iconic “Os de Mouton” profile like mutton bones–a biomorphic silhouette that pairs nicely with the lush foliate imagery in the textile. The fabric is rendered in muted tones of sage, gray, and khaki for subtle contrast between the overlapping canopy of tree limbs. Seats are accented with a large nailhead trim for textural contrast. Generous in scale and very comfortable for dining, the timeless style would not be out of place in more professional settings. Note the wood frames have been cleaned and gently refinished to preserve their historic character. The upholstery is in good condition, there is some wear to the fabric on some of the chair seats. Please view the detailed images to see more. Sold as a set of ten only.
