Set of eight (8) vintage Louis XV style dining chairs with beautiful carvings to round out the ladder-backs of each woven rush seat. Handcrafted from solid oak frames, this inviting set dates to circa 1940 but the iconic Provincial/Provençal silhouette would have origins going back to the 18th century. Each chair is decorated with a shell motif on the crest rail–repeated again on the apron–underscored by the curvaceous qualities of the ladder and cabriole front legs. Original woven rush seats inset in the frame are in good-to-fair condition, contributing their own organic qualities to the overall effect of a chair design that is at once regal and relaxed. Note that the seats are removable to make repairs or switch them out with upholstery to suit one’s tastes and décor. Please view the detailed images to see more. Sold as a set of eight.
