Description
A mid century Italian armchair by Gigi Radice. Newly reupholstered in Dedar Milano Silkbird jacquard fabric. “A lampas with an oriental motif, based on an archive drawing, reflecting the decorations of Chinese Coromandel screens of the XVII and XVIII centuries: lacquers, precious stones and oriental porcelain.” The chair features a bold graphic 1950’s silhouette and brass feet.
Gigi Radice (Luigi “Gigi” Radice, 1924–2002) was an Italian architect and furniture designer closely associated with the post-war modernist movement and the design hub of Cantù in Brianza. A founding member of the Canturini Architects Group, he became known for sleek, elegant furniture with clean lines and refined proportions.
During the 1950s–60s, Radice designed many of his best-known pieces for Minotti — sculptural sofas, lounge chairs, and armchairs that blended comfort with a distinctly Italian modern aesthetic. His work, now highly collectible, helped shape mid-century Italian design, and several of his Minotti pieces have even been reissued in recent years, reflecting their enduring appeal. -
