Description
This striking sculptural bench is a one-of-a-kind piece, hand-carved from a single solid hardwood log and finished using the ancient Japanese shou sugi ban charring technique. Its sinuous, organic silhouette evokes natural forms—part creature, part landscape—making it both functional and poetic. The deep black surface, textured with natural cracks and grain, gives it a tactile and primal presence, as if unearthed rather than built.
What sets this bench apart is its uncompromising artisanal craftsmanship. No molds, no CNC machines—just chainsaw and hand tools. The charring process not only deepens the color but also enhances the durability of the wood, sealing and preserving it in a dramatic carbonized finish.
This bench is ideal for modern organic, wabi-sabi, rustic contemporary, or brutalist interiors. It also serves beautifully in minimalist, sculptural, or gallery-like spaces. Thanks to the resilient charred finish and protective natural oils and waxes, it is equally suited for indoor and covered outdoor environments.
Sealed to maintain the richness of its charred surface. Designed and made in Europe by Logniture, a studio known for transforming raw wood into heirloom-quality functional art.
Materials: Solid hardwood, charred using shou sugi ban technique

Message from Seller:
We do not cut down, we do not destroy, but seek out downed tree limbs toppled by fierce wind storms or driftwood from the local creek. But, in that moment of discovery all it takes is a tiny spark in the artist's eye and in his vision the piece becomes what it was always meant to be. P: +38.595.396.1045 E: logniture@gmail.com
