Description
An iconic design by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin, this Model 2122 lounge chair from the 1970s is a striking example of American modernism at its most refined. Reupholstered in a subtly textured cream bouclé, the chair offers a warm, tactile contrast to its sleek, polished chrome frame.
A true cube form, this chair is solid and substantial, both visually and physically—reflecting Baughman’s commitment to bold geometry and enduring construction.
Milo Baughman (1923–2003) was a leading voice in mid-century American design, known for blending modernist simplicity with luxurious materials. His long collaboration with Thayer Coggin produced some of the era’s most celebrated furniture, marked by clean lines, comfort, and timeless appeal.
The 2122 model exemplifies these ideals: low-slung, deeply cushioned, and structurally crisp, it remains as relevant today as it was nearly five decades ago.
This particular example has been meticulously restored with new upholstery while retaining its original chrome frame in excellent vintage condition.
The chair’s heavy frame and enduring presence make it a perfect anchor for any contemporary or classic interior.
A collector’s piece and a decorator’s dream, the 2122 lounge chair combines sculptural form with functional comfort in a way few designs achieve.
The arm height is 21.5 inches. The cushion back is 31.5 inches in height.
A very cool classic interpretation of a bauhaus or art deco chair.
One of two available.
The chair is in very good restored condition. -
