Description
Mid-century modern, a design movement devoted to timeless functionalism, established itself in the post-war period with furniture that appealed to the senses. Design of the era was guided by the famous maxim: “Form follows function.”
These armchairs are elegant and comfortable evidence of the mastery of the Scandinavian cabinetmakers who defined modern seating. They are of the highest quality, both in terms of visual appeal, materials, and craftsmanship. Upholstered in a rich reddish-orange fabric, these chairs exude a timeless vibrancy that radiates warmth and refinement. The choice of fabric allows for a sense of luxury and richness while still remaining grounded. With gently rounded edges, these chairs have a stylish flow to them. Thanks to their soft curves, they cradle the sitter in a harmonious and just as stylish embrace. The eye is initially drawn to the wooden overlay on the armrests, the duality of the two materials and colours create an elegant, enticingly beautiful design. The combination of wood and high-quality upholstery is traditional in mid-century design for good reason. The two materials complement each other by highlighting their unique material qualities. The design is completed by four robust legs, which provide a sense of stability and durability, ensuring that this pair will keep standing the test of time.
This pair of chairs illustrates how modernist design can be warm and cosy despite its reputation of often cold simplicity. The elegant upholstery highlights the beautiful wood lines of the armrests and the slender, tapered legs. With a classic look, storied design and solid quality, these chairs are truly soulful and timeless.
