Description
These Pierre Jeanneret library chairs (model PJ-SI-51-A) were originally designed for the University of Punjab's central library in Chandigarh in 1959. The frames are solid teak with braided cane-work seats. There are solid 'banner' style backrests (slanted and slightly curved) and 'X' type double leg assembly, with the legs connected by a rail at the back.
Although designed as library chairs, these are suitable for dining use.
Two of the six are hand-painted to reverse to indicate place designation within the school: [P.Sc./29 C.R.] and [P.U.L. 316].
Seat height without the cushion: 17" with: 18". -
