Description
A mid century Italian rattan daybed attributed to Tito Agnoli for Bonacina. Newly upholstered with new foam and a striped wool blend fabric complete with matching bolster pillows. Sourced in Northern Italy.
Tito Agnoli (1931–2023) was an influential Italian furniture designer known for his elegant, functional, and minimalist approach to mid-century design. Originally trained as a painter, Agnoli transitioned to furniture design and quickly gained recognition for his collaborations with esteemed Italian brands, including Cassina, Poltrona Frau, and Arflex. His designs, spanning sofas, lighting, and shelving, are celebrated for their refined lines and practical, user-centered focus.
Agnoli’s work has been exhibited in major design venues, including the Milan Triennale, and is part of the permanent collections in museums such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. He was nominated several times for the Compasso d’Oro, one of Italy’s most prestigious design awards, reflecting his lasting impact on Italian modernist design. Today, Agnoli’s work remains sought after by collectors for its understated elegance and timeless functionality.
Bonacina is a renowned Italian furniture company, established in 1956, famous for its high-quality craftsmanship in weaving and rattan furniture. The company combines traditional techniques with modern design, creating pieces that are both elegant and functional. Bonacina has become a symbol of Italian excellence in furniture design, offering a range of luxurious, handwoven items including chairs, sofas, and accessories. The brand emphasizes sustainability, using eco-friendly materials and methods in its production. Its products are often seen in upscale interior projects, blending timeless aesthetic with contemporary appeal. -
