Description
A rare version of the already rare Pyramid chair model 5525 design by Werner West and manufactured by Keravan Puusepäntehdas for Stockmann. The minimalistic chair combines the structure and back rest of the 5525 chair and the three panel structure in the legs he used in other versions, two of which are in the museum archive picture with a detailed description of the leg structure. A beautiful piece in its original condition. A collector's item and suitable for museums.
Werner West (1890-1959) was a Finnish designer who has been said to have created the foundation for Finnish industrial furniture design. In his time, he was the instructor and mentor of many young Finnish designers. West also participated in the founding of the Union of Finnish Decorative Artists Ornamo in 1911. His designs can be found in numerous interiors of Finnish public buildings such as hotels, restaurants and banks. -
