Description
Base Clock with Allegory of Time, 1964 - Cornelio Ferrandi
This clock is not merely a timekeeping instrument; it is a true piece of furniture that embodies the passion and artistry of Cornelio Ferrandi. Its distinctive design features a body supported by finely carved curved legs, crafted from walnut and veneered with thuja burl, adorned with elegant motifs and frames.
The dial, made of gilded bronze, is enhanced by Roman numerals set on white enamel plates, creating a perfect harmony with the warm and precious tone of the thuja burl and the opulent decoration representing the allegory of time.
This piece is truly one a kind due to its beauty and workmanship.
Cornelio Ferrandi, a painter and inlayer born in Treviglio in 1913, always viewed inlay as a means of expression rather than an end goal. For him, it was a moment of pure poetry, a way to rediscover himself through art. His works, both in inlays and paintings, reflect a journey through fantasy, rich and never redundant, which becomes the driving force of his artistic exploration. -
