Description
An elegant Venetian Directoire chest of drawers dating to circa 1780, crafted in solid walnut of exceptional quality. The chest features a gently wavy front and sides, giving movement and softness to its neoclassical form. Three spacious drawers are adorned with original brass handles and escutcheons, perfectly balanced against the warm, lustrous walnut grain. The piece rests on gracefully curved legs, typical of the refined Venetian interpretation of the Directoire style. Its clean lines and restrained ornamentation reflect the transition between the Louis XVI and Empire periods, merging classical proportion with subtle decorative flair. With its deep patina and timeless silhouette, this chest exudes understated luxury and historical charm, making it a distinguished addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors. A rare and authentic example of 18th-century Italian craftsmanship from Venice.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
