This 19th-century French garde-manger is a characteristic example of rural Art Populaire furniture, traditionally conceived for the ventilated storage of food. Constructed in solid wood, the cabinet features numerous narrow vertical openings across the upper sections and sides, allowing air to circulate through the interior. Four central doors provide access to separate compartments, while simple carved detailing, wooden closures and hand-forged iron hinges underline its utilitarian craftsmanship. The irregularities, wear and patina accumulated across the surface remain integral to its vernacular character and history. All our rustic furniture has undergone a two-cycle preventive woodworm treatment for long-term care.
